Belladonna "Bella" Oakley had big dreams when she was younger, but little by little, they were eroded by a boyfriend who didn't have her best interests at heart. Her breaking point came when she found him in bed with another woman. Then, all she wanted was to get away.
Two years later, she finds herself with a publishing contract and a new city to love. What she didn't expect was the return of her ex-boyfriend Preston Martin Charlies III, who has somehow inserted himself into an official author event ... which is supposed to stretch the entire summer.
Nathan Cooper is out for a good time. He's not a bad guy, but he's not into emotional attachments. He's an established author with a week-long fling reputation at conferences and events.
All of that changes when he sees Bella's desperation in the face of Preston's machinations. He steps in and offers his services as a fake boyfriend ... for the entire summer.
Bella is grateful for the help, mostly because Nathan's reputation means she has nothing to worry about on the personal front. All she needs to do is keep Preston from invading her life, again.
There's just one little problem.
Nathan's reputation might have been earned, but he's never been opposed to love. He just assumed it would happen years down the line. What if he was wrong, though?
