COMPENSATION

Two brothers. One terrible accident. A lifetime of jealousy waiting to surface.
Peter Baker has always been the winner.
Popular, confident and a champion pool player at Coventry Working Men's Club, Peter possesses everything his younger brother David believes he has been denied. Since childhood, David has lived in Peter's shadow, turning every game, achievement and moment of affection into a private competition.
Then an impulsive motorcycle race around Coventry's ring road ends in catastrophe.
Peter survives but is paralysed from the waist down. As he struggles to rebuild his life, he finds hope and love with Rose, the nurse who refuses to see him as merely a patient. When they marry and Peter receives a £2.9 million compensation settlement, it appears that even tragedy has failed to stop him from coming out on top.
But the money is not a prize. It is meant to pay for a lifetime of care.
To David, however, it represents everything Peter has always had: attention, security, love and another victory.
As Rose becomes exhausted by the pressures of being both wife and carer, David quietly makes himself indispensable. Old resentment turns into manipulation, temptation and betrayal-and the brothers' lifelong rivalry moves towards a final reckoning from which nobody will escape unchanged.
Set in Coventry during the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s, Compensation is a dark and powerful family drama about brotherhood, disability, guilt, infidelity and the destructive cost of measuring love as though someone must always win.
