Wortakzent ist der Eindruck der Prominenz einer Silbe einer mehrsilbigen Wortform gegenüber den anderen: In der Wortform 'Vertrag' ist die zweite, in 'Antrag' die erste Silbe akzentuiert. In dieser Arbeit wird erklärt, wie die morphologische Struktur deutscher Wortformen als Prädiktor von Wortakzentpositionen motiviert werden kann. Der segmentale Aufbau von Vertretern verschiedener Morpharten wird informationstheoretisch beschrieben und der Zusammenhang mit der so entstehenden morphologischen und segmentalen Struktur von Wortformen einerseits und dem auditiven Eindruck von Wortakzent andererseits dargestellt.
