"Floating Clouds: Chinese-English Rhymed Verse", a remarkable and comprehensive bilingual poetry collection, is presented by Ms. Yu Xin, a Chinese female poet and translator, following her work "Chinese Translation of William Shakespeare's Sonnets".

This poetry collection is divided into four chapters, which are like four distinct and captivating landscapes, each with its own allure. The first chapter comprises bilingual poems. The author centers on family ties and conveys the profound and heart-wrenching pain of losing loved ones through her words. The comprehensive part documents the author's profound musings and sentiments regarding life, nature, and human existence. The second chapter is akin to a treasury of poetry, selectively including the author's recent translations of Chinese classical regulated verse and poetry. The syllables and rhymes are meticulously crafted, striving to present the author's original intentions and showcase the charm of Chinese classical regulated verse and poetry. The final chapter is as if opening a gateway to classic English poems from Europe and America. The author endeavors to surmount language barriers, enabling readers to savor a distinctive poetic essence.

It is believed that this book can serve as a bridge connecting readers of different languages and cultures, allowing all to jointly relish the beautiful sentiments of poetry.

Preface

Poetry is the voice from the soul. It is the elaborate carving and deep exploration of emotions, and the ceaseless pursuit of beauty. Over the long years, I regarded many bits and pieces that once touched my soul and settled in my heart as the sweet nourishment for myself, and compiled them into this bilingual poetry collection, "Floating Clouds: Chinese-English Rhymed Verse".

The content of this poetry collection is divided into three chapters. The first chapter consists of the bilingual poems I created with devotion, among which the part about family affection is the most significant. Family affection is the core of my life, like the warmest harbour in life. The deaths of my loved ones have brought me endless grief, just like a magical and huge net, making me trapped time and again and unable to break free. Just as it is said, "The most heart-rending thing is parting." Only by having words flowing from my pen can I relieve the pressure and extricate myself from the predicament. When composing these bilingual poems, I strived to present the rhythm and wonderful charm of poetry. The comprehensive  part contains various sentiments about life, nature and human experiences, using the language of poetry to remember those moments that touch my heart.

The second chapter includes the recent translations of classical regulated verse and poetry I have made in recent years. Tang Poetry and Song Ci are the shining pearls in Chinese culture, containing boundless wisdom and emotions.

I did my best to pursue the syllables and rhymes. When translating, I strived to present the author's meaning with a better effect, so that more people can appreciate the charm of

Chinese classical regulated verse and poetry.
