Hypospadiology, Second Edition

The purpose of the second edition of  Hypospadiology is stated in the title, Repairing Hypospadias Better. Towards that end, every chapter from the first edition has been rewritten and 14 new chapters added -  reflecting the continuing evolution of hypospadias surgery towards making the abnormal anatomy of this birth defect into the normal anatomy of the penis.

Repairing hypospadias is one of the greatest challenges in reconstructive surgery, and every surgeon who undertakes this work struggles to straighten the associated penile curvature, rearrange the misaligned shaft skin, and extend the urethral meatus to its normal location at the tip of the glans - and to achieve all these with a minimum of complications while leaving behind no scars to show that a repair was done. The Second Edition of Hypospadiology: Repairing Hypospadias Better provides the most comprehensive and authoritative resource available, written by two world-renowned experts who describe the most successful operations step-by-step.

Since most complications are caused by technical errors, Hypospadiology, 2^nd Edition also emphasizes how to avoid those mistakes. Because failed repairs and reoperations decrease tissue vascularity, the textbook describes hyperbaric oxygen therapy to improve wound healing. And because this birth defect affects more than the patient, a new chapter highlights its impact on parents and the entire family.

Every hypospadias surgeon will benefit from these and many other lessons derived from the authors'  extensive surgical experience and their well-known commitment to improving their own results, all summarized in Hypospadiology: Repairing Hypospadias Better.
