Matt and Ines are the newest residents of Ashborne, a town of survivors who have banded together to ensure that humanity lives on. The Away Team provides Matt with a much-needed dose of freedom from the shackles of human society, and he relishes every opportunity to be out in the wilds. His mounting tension with the leader of the team, Kowizaki, is a thorn in his side, but he is happy to be living more comfortably and not having to worry about the mutants at every step. However, Ines is visibly pregnant, and both she and Matt know that it is only a matter of time before the truth of her condition is discovered by the town. Or do they already know? What is Dr. Levi doing to her during her regular checkups? What does the leader of Ashborne, Denzel, know about all of it? Is he part of the conspiracy, or is he being honest with them? Matt chafes against the social expectations of living in Ashborne even as he works hard to make friends. Both he and Ines earnestly desire a peaceful resolution, but Matt will not compromise with Ines's life in balance. Will Matt find a way to coexist with the community, or will his drive to survive be their undoing?
