A series of gruesome, unexplained deaths put the sleepy mountain town of Somerton, Wisconsin in the national spotlight. A hefty amount of federal intervention and a half-baked cover story took it out again. That should've been the end of things.

Nyla Jameson and Aaron Klein aren't so sure.

The events of the previous summer linger in the air, turning the once-peaceful Basin Forest into a foreboding shadow of fear and doubt. With winter rapidly approaching, Nyla and Aaron take solace in knowing that they won't be faced with an onslaught of unwitting tourists while they unravel the Basin's mysteries.

They still shouldn't be in Somerton, but Sam's mother was concerned for the state of their investment in the aftershocks of the summer massacre. Sam can't imagine finding danger in the predictable rural gossip and unstable internet services of his youth, so why would he turn down the excuse for a short vacation?
