Royce Mahoney, now retired from his forty years in the Australian Federal Police, answers a call from the widow of his old partner for help. Her son, a gifted young scientist, is being forced into approving a new synthetic hallucinogen. The Chinese pharmaceutical company who created the drug and then failed spectacularly to get licensing at home, have switched their aim to what they consider a soft target - the relative sleepy city of Brisbane. Joining forces with a larger-than-life local crime figure who, through his extensive links stretching deep into Queensland Law Enforcement, is unknowingly re-introducing a bigger threat into the country.
