Shadowland

ABOUT SHADOWLAND:
Fedorov learns of an eccentric scientist in the new Atlas Colony Expedition and Orion journeys there to meet Professor Ari Thorgilsson, a specialist in Subspace and Shadowland Physics. There they discover the professor has designed and built a special deep Subspace Prowler that can even get "beneath the layer" and enter the Shadowland. This sets up a darting mission on that Prowler, named Nautilus, where Fedorov can only be aboard as his Crystal Sphere. Entering the Shadowland, Earthforce Prowler Captain Ivan Gromyko serves as XO to the Professor, and learns the complex operation of this ship as it descends into the Shadowland. There they will discover strange new life forms and learn much from the professor on how denizens of the Shadowland can be faced and fought when they emerge in Baryonic Space Normal.
Then, with a double meaning, the title then forecasts the renewal of another conflict that Karpov thought was well settled. A temporal recon obtains vital information that speaks to the future of the colonies and Earth, and sets up a long task list when Tyrenkov's analysis reveals a shocking truth about the Colony Virus, and "the Shadows" first fought long ago, just after the colony on Dharma-6 was first founded. An old enemy they thought was defeated has been silently planning the downfall of Humanity.
