Arthur, an operative, working directly for the government, finds himself set up, having to even flee the country. Trying to gather the proof of his innocence, the world begins to tremble as a global war breaks lose, resulting in massive missile strikes all over the world, until it causes the tectonic plates to buckle, and a worldwide earthquake unlike the earth has ever seen before, turns everything upside down. Barely having survived it, he finds himself in a destroyed world, seeking for food, survivors, and hope. When months later he finds a failed settlement, he recognized the shirt on a victim having belonged to his former partner, the one who set him up. In a world where only the strong survive, he sets off on the trail of his former brother in arms, having the most unlikely tagalong that he could ever have thought of, even as something between them begins developing. When everything fails, he finds other soldiers, forming the American Wolfpack, as camp by camp they begin taking the world back.
