Mason Kade is a compliance auditor who believes most failures are ordinary-sloppy approvals, rushed shortcuts, bad training. Then, inside a defense contractor's system, he finds something that should not exist: a hidden archive label, accessed by a vendor-managed service account with privileges no one will own.

He teams up with Elena Brooks, an archivist who understands how institutions "lose" records without deleting them, and Solis Reyes, a ruthless attorney who turns intimidation into evidence. Together, they map the interfaces where a hidden program must touch the normal world-procurement trails, filtration upgrades, waste routes, and midnight deliveries to an unlisted annex the maps pretend is not there.
