When Emma Louw is appointed as teacher and au pair for Daniel Swart's son, Neal, she has no idea what impact this would have on her personal life. She moves to Omdraai, Daniel's remote farm in the Karoo, to take up her postion.

From the outset there is a strong physical attraction between employer and employee which they both desperately try to fight for their own reasons. Daniel's wife left him without prior warning and he warns Emma that he is not ready for a new commitment. Emma knows that she should not get involved with her ward's father who is technically still married.
