The Clean are the social elites, living in the comfort of the First and Second Quarters. Free to live however they please, they enjoy Lait's offerings.
Written are shunned, forced into the Third Quarter and distinguished by three or more 'designations' - markings on the skin that reveal trauma, illness, injury, or disability -
