Dabei bestimmt der erste Ansatz rhythmische Qualität temporal, der zweite akzentuell. Die vorliegende Monographie begründet, warum beide Explikationen für eine universelle Rhythmusphonologie problematisch sind und entwickelt eine neue Typologie, die Zeit und akzentuelle Prominenz gleichermaßen berücksichtigt und die durch Evidenz aus Phonetik, Psycholinguistik und poetologischer Metrik gestützt wird.
