Il ne s'agit pas vraiment d'une méthode au sens actuel du terme, mais d'un recueil d'exercices permettant de travailler l'interprétation de la musique de l'époque baroque, et ce dčs les premičres années d'étude : les morceaux sont tous en premičre position. Il s'agit de faire travailler le rythme et la technique d'archet, sans difficultés de main gauche. Egalement, une introduction précise la maničre d'exécuter les ornements ŕ cette époque.
