As in our own reality, the lines between the religious fundamentalism that plans the terrorist attacks, and the occidental world governments that subsidize the bombs themself for political interests, get blurry. Zeta creates discomfort for the reader and this repellant scenario is very effective in transmitting how disgusting a social and political crisis can be and how we refuse to see that as part of our reality. In this graphic novel, civilians are not able to do anything because they are not even capable of being conscious of what is happening. They have become alienated by media, noise, poverty, and dirt. The results of corruption, lying, and fraud are also part of the reason for the decadence of the world represented in the graphic novel.
Terrorism, religion, zombies and political conspiracies dressed up with a black sense of humor, Zeta is a fast-paced mixture of the classic Batman Detective comics and the most extravagant work of Gerard Way on Doom Patrol.
