I'm a Cat is a novel created by Japanese writer Natsume Soseki, Natsume Soseki. It established Natsume Soseki's position in the history of literature. The work vividly reflects the thought and life of the Japanese middle and petty bourgeoisie in the early twentieth century, sharply exposing and criticizing the "e;civilized"e; capitalist society of Meiji. The novel uses humor, satire, and comical techniques, and uses the sight, hearing, and feeling of a cat to mock the empty spiritual life of intellectuals in the Meiji era. The novel is cleverly conceived, exaggerated in description, flexible in structure, and has distinctive artistic characteristics.
