De fem forbandede ar 1940-1945. Staerke ord og en kamp, der under besaettelsen i Danmark stod mellem de gode og de onde. Mellem danskerne og tyskerne. Heltene var de modstandsfolk, der isaer fra august 1943 kaempede mod tyskerne. Malet med modstanden var naturligvis Danmarks befrielse. Det sagde de i hvert fald. Men kradser man i overfladen, var motiverne og ikke mindst planerne for efterkrigstiden meget forskellige. Nogle onskede bare at vende tilbage til tilstandene for krigen. Andre onskede et nyt og mere moralsk Danmark, mens atter andre onskede dramatiske forandringer. Maske endda en revolution. Det frygtede de etablerede politikere, og derfor blev mange politikere modstandens modstandere. Niels Wium Olesen, lektor i historie ved Aarhus Universitet, g r modstand mod mytologiseringer af Anden Verdenskrig.
