Der humanistische Schriftsteller und englische Staatsmann Thomas Morus oder Thomas More wird am 7. Februar 1478 als Sohn eines Richters in London geboren. Thomas Morus schreibt lateinische und englische Verse und arbeitet als erfolgreicher Rechtsanwalt und Unterhandler. Von seinem Amt als Lordkanzler tritt Morus 1531 zuruck und weigert sich 1534, vor dem Kronrat den Suprematseid abzulegen. In Folge dessen gerat er in den Tower. Das Parlament beschliet zugunsten der Krone, sein gesamtes Vermogen einzuziehen. Durch ein Sondergericht wird er zum Tode verurteilt, das Urteil wird am 6. Juli 1535 vollstreckt. War er aber wirklich nur ein Humanist oder gar ein Mrder?
